Just wondering what the latest is in the format wars. Any new evidence supporting a winner yet? Anyone working on a player that will do both formats? I haven't been able to follow this as close as I'd like lately.

No winner, no possible predictions.

No hope.

AND: LG has made a dual-format player, but at $1200 it's more expensive than buying both a PS3 & an xbox360+hd-dvd drive...

Blu-Ray has more "players" out in the wild because of the Playstation 3. Though it isn't the millions that had been hoped for.

There's some evidence to suggest that more Blu-Ray movies have been sold. Neither side has released official numbers though.

Because of the PS3 there are many, many more blu-ray players sold than hd-DVD, but no clue who will win.

HD-DVD has essentially been cracked, while Blu-Ray still has some hope with its BD+ standard. However the AACS scheme currently in use by both is doomed.

Ah, forgot all about SACD's. Where does one buy those anyway? Do regular CD stores carry them? I just found out my HT system will play those things and I'd like to buy one just to see what the fuss is about. I never heard of DVD-A though.

BD+ has been cracked, I believe. And I also have seen some evidence that HD-DVD has outsold Blu Ray substantially, don't remember how credible it was though.

Bah.. I'll wait until somebody makes a dual-format player. I'm not gonna spend $1K on a potential loser.

Are all HD movies either HD-DVD OR Bluray? Or are some movies out on both formats? If it's the former, then that's another reason to wait for a dual format player... double the movie selection.
