So assume the 22" has res of 1680 x 1050 and the 24" has 1920 x 1200.

How does HD video look on the 22" vs the 24"?

Is it comparable or not even close?

It's so good either way that it's almost impossible to tell. Though the full HD is 1920x1080, so the 24" will give you everything.

I would venture to say that it IS impossible to tell. You are sitting very close, but the pixels are so close together on those 22-24" LCDs that it will be impossible to see the difference.

If you're going to watch a movie on it, then you'll probably sit back a little, and the further you are away the less likely you are to notice, so don't worry about it.

I wouldn't use HDTV resolutions as a deciding factor in my own PC monitor purchases, but I don't use mine to watch tv or video on very much. Maybe an HD Lost here and there, but that's about it.

One thing you should consider is that the 6800 is going to choke on 1920x1200. I would select a monitor somewhat more suited to your video card capability. Otherwise you'll be constantly downscaling games from the LCD's native resolution, and if you're doing that, then how can you justify the extra cost for more pixels that you aren't using?

HD will look great on both 22" and 24"; much, much better than regular 480p DVDs, at least.

It'll naturally look better on a 24" since, like Arkaign mentioned, you'll get perfect a 1:1 pixel ratio on the 24", with black bars on top and bottom due to the different apect ratios (16:10 vs. 16:9).

A 22" like have to scale the image down, but it'll still look great.

Go for native resolution seriously. 1920x1200. (I know it's 1920x1080, but you'll just have thin black bars).
