HD detection

Need help w/ a maxtor 40 gig. No matter which jumper I set it to, it only reads as primary slave. I have no other ide devices installed, and have tried every different jumper on the HD, still comes up as primary slave.

It's on the end connector on the IDE cable right?

Did you try it with no jumper?
