I put my 2nd HD and it was detectable by the BIOS and Windows XP in the Device Manager but I can't access it through My Computers.

I put it as cable select as when I put it as Primary Slave, it gives me trouble. So it detected but can't access it.

I just want to format it so I can install it onto another computer.

THX!!!

Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management > Format drive.

You need to format or initialize the drive before windows can see it.

Did you create partitions on it yet? Windows won't see a hd without an active partition. Easiest way to partiton a hard drive is with a dos boot disk or with a bootable win2k cd. I assume bootable xp cd will work as well.
