I'm running an MSI K7N2-L delta board...
PCI promise card (TX2) for my 160 gb wd se..

I'm having data corruption issues
I thought the nforce2 has a PCI lock- whats the deal? can I use the main controller on the mb in case the pci bus is slightly out of whack?

You may want to manually set the AGP bus to 66MHz. There's some reason to suspect that this locks PCI at 33MHz as a consequence, although it could be that's not correct. In lieu of a way of measuring it... *shrug*

Also, put your controller in PCI slot 4 (second from the bottom). It doesn't share its IRQ.

Besides that, make sure your HDD is on the end connector of the cable if it's the only drive on that cable, to prevent signal bounce on an unoccupied section of cable beyond the drive. If you haven't tried another IDE cable, that's another good idea, and remember that ATA100/133 spec calls for a maximum cable length of :(18 inches:(

Of course, it could be a dud drive too! :p Nothing to lose by running WD's Data Lifeguard diagnostics either.

Ooops, I got my PCI slot recommendation incorrect. PCI slots 2 and 3 don't share their IRQs on your board. I had A7N8X-Deluxe on the brain
