HD creative audio

Isn't it just software? If so, I would think it'd be mostly useless as it'll still be dependent on the laptop's DACs and output, and since its software, I don't think it'll boost gaming any (well it should sound better, but its going to be at a performance hit).

I don't know for sure what audio chip it uses, but I think it should at least have Intel's Azalia, although I'm far from certain.

Looks like it just gives you a software equalizer, EAX support, and related creative stuff?

If that's really what you get for $25, I would say skip it.

What kind of speakers / headphones do you use?

If you really want to increase sound quality, then you'd probably be better off saving up a bit more and getting a new external hardware solution.

We had "DIGITAL READY" badges on everything in the 80's when CD playas came out. Now we have HD Audio on everything today. 95% of the program still sounds as bad though.
