I have a cooler master HAF 932. In the past here and there I would hear HD rattling. I have three hard drives mounted. SSD, 1TB Samsung F2 and an older Hitchachi 1TB that I am unsure of the model.
At first it was alittle noise and mildly annoying but mainly only I noticed it. This week my GF was like What is making all that noise? I unplugged my Samsung F2 and at first I thought that was the issue. From advice and past experience with data loss I tried to see if any smart errors or HD testing program notice any bad sectors etc. Nothing. I would like to buy one bigger 2TB drive anyhow but fear zoning on MMO game will be slower then my Hitchaci I use now for games.
My SSD is only 30 GB so too small to store my 12 GB everquest folder and store win7 on it.
So leaning towards my Hitachi is close to end of life even tho no errors are being found by software. I am going to try the elastic band trick for this hard drive and future spinning drives. Has anyone else had random rattling caused by there HD?
Edit: rambled without getting to the second point. What route would you go? Plan to keep EQ folder that I 3-6 bot off and soon reinstall BC2 and witcher 2 so without spending crazy money SSD might be out of the picture for gaming drive. Guys at work tell me to get 2 Samsung F3 or other speedy drives in Raid 0. Or should I just jump to one 2TB drive?
