HD capabilities for the Gateway FPD2185W

So I enabled the HD formats thru the ATI CCC for my gateway monitor, I noticed that some games (CoH) offers 1920*1050 resolutions, so I tried it and it worked great but I started wondering if my monitor actually supported this resolution. I went to the gateway site and on this page it says it goes up to 1080p but on this page is says 1080i.
so does anybody know what the HD capabilities are for this monitor? also, this may be dumb but if I run games at 1920*1050(1080p) am I risking damage to my unit?

Thanks

IIRC, it's a 1680x1050 monitor. Most likely, it's downscaling some. Also, 1080p is 1920x1080.

OK, thanks.
So I would not be able to get true 1080p or 1080i with this monitor because it would be scaling to reach those resolutions? meaning any true HD format that I could use would be the 720?
I have been setting my cyberlink powerDVD player to set the resolution to 1920*1080 when I am watching movies, is that in anyway going to harm my monitor? I cant tell but would the picture quality be better if I just ran it at the native resolution?
Thank you for your help.

Your LCD does 1680x1050, which means it does not do 1080i or 1080p
It does do 720p though.
