HD Audio Issues

I spent a good 5 hours pulling my hair over this one. I can't figure out why the machine I am working on won't recognize the new drivers.

Here is a run down of what I am working with.

ECS Geforce6100PM-M2 Motherboard
Win XP SP3
Realtek HD Audio Drivers
Computer was an a1630n HP, but now has a new MB, PSU, CPU, and Ram.

I've tried different variations of methods I've read googling and searching these forums. I have the Realtek HD UAA Hotfix, but the HD error most people are having isn't my problem.

Everytime I boot up and load into windows I am having a New Hardware window come up; a new PCI device. I am assuming that this is the onboard sound and as soon as I get the correct drivers installed it will go away. I've tried uninstalling every audio driver and then proceeding to install the UAA driver, rebooting, then the Realtek. I've also tried doing this is every possible combination.

All the drivers and bios are up to date. I even tried turning off HD audio in the bios and seeing if I can get even normal sound. Nothing. I suspect the problem is either faulty hardware, or a previous undetectable driver that is still trying to be used. I've cleaned out the reg with CCleaner and scanned for any sign of a previous driver, but nothing.

There is one thing under Sound and Audio Devices that doesn't make sense. It has Legecy Drivers listed as well as Codecs, but there is no way to remove them, or update them to something else. Could this be the problem?

If I could just get the sound working I could end this job. The computer is only used for solitaire, emailing, and skype. I may end up buying a sound card if it bypasses the problem.

Any help, advice, experience would be most welcome. Like I said, I don't care how good the quality is or isn't, as long as there is sound coming from the speakers I can be happy knowing I completely fixed this ladies computer like I said I would.

Well first thing we need to know is if the systrem was given a fresh install after the parts where changed out? If your still running off the original XP install that came on that HP its not going to work right after you change out the motherboard. You will need to perform a fresh install. That would exsplain your driver issues.
