HD audio connectors

Hi guys,
Last couple of months I'm preparing to build my first system. Waiting for P5B Plus to become available in New Zealand. In the mean time I read as much as possible on the web just to minimize possibilities of mistakes I will make.
I hope that some of you can help me with front panel audio connectors.
Case is Thermalrock Mystic (same as Thermaltake Tenor) provide block 10 pin audio connector. Actually that is 9 pin because pin 8 missing (key). On the motherboard there is an AAFP audio header. In BIOS (Front panel support type) if I select "HD Audio" connection will be:
mobo >>>> case
1. PORT 1L >>>> 1. MIC IN
2. GND >>>> 2. GND
3. PORT 1R >>>> 3. MIC BIAS
4. PRESNCE# >>>> 4. (BRANK)
5. PORT 2R >>>> 5. SPEKOUT R
6. SENCE 1_RETURN >>>> 6. RETURN K
7. SENCE_SEND >>>> 7. (BRANK)
8. key >>>> 8. key
9. PORT 2L >>>> 9. SPLOUT L
10. SENCE 2_RETURN >>>> 10. RETURN L

If I configure AAFP to "AC97" legacy mode connection will be:

mobo >>>> case
1. MIC 2 >>>> 1. MIC IN
2. AGND >>>> 2. GND
3. MIC PWR >>>> 3. MIC BIAS
4. NC >>>> 4. (BRANK)
5. LINE OUT R >>>> 5. SPEKOUT R
6. NC >>>> 6. RETURN K
7. NC >>>> 7. (BRANK)
8. key >>>> 8. key
9. LINE OUT L >>>> 9. SPLOUT L
10.NC >>>> 10. RETURN L

I presume that will work in AC97 configuration but my question is will it work in "HD Audio" configuration.
Configuring BIOS to HD Audio and connecting that way, will that worsen known issues with "HD Audio" (SoundMax drivers) on P5B Plus.

Thanks
