HD access for ages - what can it be? how to tell?

Is there a utility to tell me what program is asking my hard drive to access the disk?
Right now the disk light has been running for over 10 mins!

I can use taskmanager to see what programs are eating CPU, but not what is eating hard disk time..

Annoying!

You can (at least in WinXP/2K) customize Task Manager with many more columns than the default, including I/O counters (go to the "processes" tab, under View/"Select Columns..."). Look for the process that has its read/write counters steadily increasing. There are also, as noted, programs you can get that will tell you which files on disk are currently being accessed.
