HD About to die?

I was trying to watch some movies and noticed some massive skipping. I updated my codecs and it persisted. Checked my drivers etc. Then I thought, mmm, it looks like hard disk trashing. I loaded up HDTune and saw the most awful benchmark ever.

Notice that the performance is almost absolutely 0mb/sec at some points. Is this a sign that the HD is about to die? This is a pretty new one.

Also, my 2.5" E-SATA HD runs fine, hovers around 40MB/sec for the most part. Anyone have an idea whats going on?

Your best bet is to run the manufacturer's diagnostic off a boot CD. You can find them on their site.

Run the Full tests - takes longer, but it will uncover any problems if the drive itself is at fault.
