I don't have any first-hand experience, but I still hear bad things about AMD's frame pacing on Tahiti based cards. Someone who has experience with CF 7970s/50s feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Your other choice would be the R9 390, which I would probably go with. You'd have higher frame rates with the 7990 but micro stuttering might end up driving you crazy.
