HD 7990: 6GB, 2x1000mhz TahitiXT, $849

There is no way its 1000Mhz. You can't just double everything on the card and increase the clocks when the original card runs at 240 Watts. It would be a 480 Watt card, that is so far past the spec it'll be using 4 PCI-8 plugs to power the thing, and I doubt a standard blower fan will keep it cool.

I am expecting it to come out at more like 800Mhz a core if not lower. This must be an April fool.

My 7970 Oced manages the following with BF3:

1920x1080 4x MSAA 4x AA Ultra 16x AF, min FPS 60+ pretty much always, average around 80+ including during fights mostly 70s and 80s or more

2560x1440 0x MSAA 0x AA Ultra 16x AF, min FPS usually 60+ and rarely below 60. Average FPS in 60s/70s and even during fights almost always above 60 with very rare exceptions.

However I have oced to 1125-1175 and 1575-1625 with slightly above stock volts for core and stock volts for memory. Stock cooler.

This card will probably manage 2560x1440 8x MSAA 8x FXAA 16x AF and still manage minimum FPS above 60-80. Perhaps you might even add EQ AA and SSAA and still maintain the minimum FPS of 60 🙂

7970's hardly draw anywhere near that under real world conditions.

Using the best 7970 dies with a lower voltage, and the lower memory speeds would easily put this within range of the 6990's TDP/power use.

That fan also only has to cope with half the TDP of the card, since it blows air in both directions, except for the smaller heatsinks for each chip.

This doesn't look like the actual card to me though. The fan placement is so off-center.

As Vinska reported in the techPowerUp forum, take a close look at the DVI connector on both the supposed HD 7990 and a photo of the HD 7850 also found at techPowerUp. If you compare the two DVI ports, you'll see the exact same pattern of scratches on both. This has to be a chop job. Also, look closely near the top left side of the card where the black shroud line meets the red plastic. Along the top edge of the black, you can see a pattern of imperfections reflected along that edge. They look identical between the two cards.

They also severely screwed up and didn't shift the fan to the right side of the card like it would be.

No, they wouldn't be THAT identical. Some of the scratches would line up, sure. But there are imperfections visible that would more attributable to production defects than from plugging/unplugging a DVI cable. And they're identical between the two cards.

Look at the imperfections in the heatpipe visible at both the top and bottom of each card. They're identical. There are just too many similarities between these two cards for it to be a coincidence.

I was making a joke, I agree its's photo-shopped. Still, the card itself is plausible. I wouldn't be surprised if the real thing is announced soon with similar specs.
