Don't look to the 5850 for any relief. It looks like prices on the 5850 have actually crept UP on Newegg. You can't get one for less than $316.00 shipped now.

No competition = the suckage.

Yeah, I saw the price on the 5850 as well. Now I'm just gonna have to hold onto my 4830 for a while longer. Though on the bright side, I could hold off playing the new games (like ME2, Bioshock 2) until the market is more competitive and focus on school work for now...

Yeah, like that'll happen. Sigh....

5830 is no 4830, I think just get the 4890 which is way cheaper and trades blows with the 5830s. this product is badly placed in its pricing segment. don't bother getting it.

Agreed 5770 seems to be the best value in the 5xxx series.
I don't really understand why 5770 prices are actually falling though.
MSRP is supposed to be 159 for them yet I see them selling for 150 or 140 something pretty often. 5750 is supposed to be like $125, but I see them selling for 140+.
5850s second MSRP is supposed to be like 270 or 280 and it's usually over 300.

So why exactly is the 5770 the only product not getting inflated??

Probably because its supply is greater than its demand. The 5770 has to compete with the 4870 and 4890 and its performance just doesn't stack up too favorably. Consumers targeted by the 5750 aren't going to be as concerned with price/performance.

Wow it just blows my mind how consumers can buy a 5750 when they could have a 5770 for exactly the same price. Either that or its simply they aren't bothering to manufacture any 5750s since it costs the same to manufacture and they get few faulty chips anyways.
