HD 5770 won't go 2560x1440, maxes out at 1920x1200

my new 27" dell moni arrived. It's connected via dual link dvi as one of two screens on an ATI HD 5770 display w/ 1GB of adapter RAM (the other monitor is an old 21" Acer display running at its native rez of 1680x1050). Win7 won't let me set any reso higher than 1920x1080 on the new moni. I've installed the dell inf file so the new moni shows up as a "dell u2711 (digital)". This monitor is supposed to do 2560x1440.

Is the issue the 2nd moni on the 5770 consuming too many resources to permit the higher rez, or is there another problem? Suggestions are appreciated.

I've installed the latest AMD drivers and windows is patched up to date.

I believe most 5770's have 1 SingleLink DVI port and 1 DualLink DVI port so try swapping ports.

i'm sure mine has 2 dual link ports. not 1. either way, mine handles 2560x1600 just fine

What trouble shooting have you tried? Have you tried unhooking the smaller display? Have you tried changing VC outputs? Anything?
