I've noticed that when going to a site that has Flash like Youtube the second monitor attached to my 5670 card via HDMI/DVI seems to blink almost as if a popup blocker. This doesn't happen on my main monitor with a direct DVI connection, only on the second monitor. Has anyone reported this issue before? Could the HDMI/DVI adapter be causing it?

Are you using the latest 10.6 drivers? If not get them.
I had the same problem with older drivers.

if you're using flash 10.1 then you want to make sure your graphics driver is updated to 10.6 yea, otherwise you may not get the best results all in all. also, are you sure it isnt just the fact that its going into 3D mode when you open flash with 10.1? my screen blinks when i do that but thats normal, does that every time i open youtube now for example, and im running 10.6 with flash 10.1. i should also note that the monitor blinking (my main one) is the one connected to the "secondary" DVI on my card as well, so its possible it is in fact just the card going into 3D mode. watch when a game starts up, it should do the same thing. been like that for as long as i can remember, and i remember about as far back as when i got my RIVA TNT2 LOL

I am using the 10.6 drivers so I don't think that's the problem. The odd thing is that my main monitor on the cards dvi is fine but the second monitor attached to the cards hdmi port with a dvi to hdmi cable is the one that seems to blink even without any windows on it. This didn't happen with my old 3870 card which had both montors using dvi. I wonder if the cable might be to blame.

The problem is, your card is running memory at 3D speeds with 2+ monitors. And this speed is different than UVD mode (which the card runs at when running any GPU-accelerated things). So each time you run flash or movies, the card downclocks the memory slightly from 3D to UVD mode (1150 -> 900 in my case). When you leave UVD mode, the card jumps back to 3D clocks on the memory (another blink). I get the blink/tear/flash thing on my DVI-connected LCD. However, my HDTV, connected through HDMI, doesn't show this at all.

It's a characteristic of GDDR5 memory (or ATi's memory controller when paired with GDDR5) and there's nothing you can do about it. Unless you manually edit your BIOS to have UVD memory clocks the same as your 3D memory. Going between "idle with 2+ screens" and UVD will keep your memory at the same value - hence no blinking.

Well, after playing around with my cables I seem to have come to the best possible result. I set up my main monitor on the DVI port and my HDTV on the HDMI. I connected my aux monitor to the 785G vga port and now when I view Youtube, the blink only occurs on the HDTV. This is fine because I only turn it on when I'm going to view video on VLC player whereas the aux monitor is almost always on. I did notice that using the 785G DVI port brought the blink right back to the main monitor so there is something about digital which causes this. Thanks for the info and feedback.
