Picked up a 24" monitor (1920 x 1080) for my son's rig back during the November deals and will be giving it to him for his birthday at the end of the month. Willing to spend about $150 - $175 for a new graphics card to maximize his gaming. He's currently running a C2D E7400 with an HD 4850 512MB. His PSU is an Antec BP550 Plus. Any suggestions?

The AMD HD6850 is the best match for that system (a bit overpowered, but not by much). Deals on it come and go. Best prices are usually with weekend deals.

The best price right now at Newegg is this model for $153AR with shipping: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-374-_-Product. There was one for $140 this past weekend, just so you know potential sale prices.

If you're willing to "overbuy" in terms of power, this HD6870 is actually a better deal at $175AR, but wouldn't perform that much better given the CPU you're working with: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2156929
