HD 4850 - slow 2D performance?

My 8800GT recently died and I got a 4850 to replace it.
I removed the nVidia drivers and ran Driver Sweeper before installing the ATI drivers.

While performance in games seems fine, my 2D performance in regular desktop is terribly slow. Things like scrolling a web page, dragging a window and even typing feel incredibly slow (I'll type an entire word before it begins to show up on screen)

My specs are:
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L
C2D E8400 (no overclock)
2x2GB DDR2-1000 G.Skill
Sapphire Radeon 4850

Something else is definitly wrong as there should be no 2D slowdowns... Did you try re-installing the latest ATI drivers? What about a previous driver version? I don't know what else to try... anyone have this problem?

I've had that happen before when I didn't have any video drivers installed at all on both nvidia and ati cards. reinstall your drivers and you'll be fine.
