the base clock of the IGP is 350MHz I think, turbo up to 1250? that's not a bad OC...

the good thing about the HD 4600 is that it's present on all I5s at the moment, while the HD 4000 was exclusive to K and other more expensive models.

question, can you OC the IGP on non K models? with ivy/sandy bridge it was possible

Neither madly overclocked haswell or richland was even close to playable, so all it proves is you still need a discrete card for a decent gaming experience in newer titles.

Unfortunately that review was retarded in that they tested all their games at high settings. On low should be playable.

Who wants to play modern games at low quality settings? I just don't see the point.

Well, all I see an APU to be useful for is for gaming at low quality on a 768p TV. I seriously doubt that anyone who buys a new computer and monitor is going to get less than 1080p.

Seems a very limited experience to me when it could be improved 2x by the simple addition of a HD7750.

Edit: except for the ability to play older cheap steam games, one would be better served with a console, even a last gen one.

Well some people play the game for the game play, not just for the graphics. Millions are perfectly happy playing games at sub 720p on xbox 360 and PS3, I'm sure millions are happy with 720p graphics on PC's.

Consoles are a fixed platform, not really comparable to a PC.

I dont really know how you documented that "millions are perfectly happy" playing at 720p with a PC, but the point is a desktop can so easily and cheaply be upgraded for a much, much better experience.

APU's and CPU/IGP's are not quite ready yet if you ask me. Once they solve the memory bandwidth problems I will definitely pick one up for a HTPC that can also do some light gaming.

The GT3e is the first to attempt to solve the memory bandwidth issue and it's performance is typically a lot better than IGP's before it. I can't wait for AMD's attempt at this because it will not cost $600.

Just look at the steam hardware survey. Plenty of cards on there that will not provide playable frame rates at 1080p.
