yeah, too many peeps have waited too long for decent upper-midrange performance. I still say that the problem is that people are looking at 8800gt and, to a lesser extent, 3870 as high end cards at bargain basement prices instead of midrange cards that are great at older titles but will fall flat on their faces with newer games (crysis is just the start). These cards are not that great at today's prices, and by the time they drop down in price people will be starting to realize that they simply cannot handle the next gen of games very well. I went in with my eyes open and will not be disappointed if I get a larger monitor and have to knock the res down a notch, but I also think that I'm in a little better shape than most with a 1440x900 monitor. Did I mention that I'm getting 34.85 fps in the crysis demo on high with only 1gb ram and the e6750 crippled to 3.0ghz for now, too? :)

Many of us who have bought these cards now will be looking to upgrade soon. We might make it through r680/g92x2 ok but we'll probably succumb to the lure of r700/g100 next summer. I am still waiting to see a single chip gpu that will destroy an 8800 ultra...how much longer must we wait?
