What's wrong with the noise levels? Note that their graphs are a little misleading as they don't start at zero...so the differences in their graphs look huge, when in fact the differences are small.

"Noise levels are only slightly up for the dual card setup, and still better than the smaller 8800GT which pumps out 70+dB when under load."

Slightly up for the dual-card setup, and it looks like they're using 3850's with the dual-slot coolers which are probably louder than the 3850's that use single slot coolers, so if you used two of those, it'd probably end up quieter.

Well I am not going for a 3850 but a 3870 if I am going ATI, but people have stated that the 8800gt is noisy. So if the 8800gts is less noisy I am going for that.

A dual slot cooler with a larger fan is much quieter than a small single slot cooler, generally.

That's why the 8800GT is so loud but the 8800GTS, with its dual-slot cooler, is very quiet.

I guess I understand the 'price4price' on the 8800gts and 3850 512mb XFire but if most folks were gonna spend $400 I think it likely they would go with a single card.

I wish they would have offered single 3850 512s and 8800gt 256s and 512s for comparison in their benchies . . . and a 3870, too :)

Buy the best single card up front you can afford - then XFire down the road after price drops for a little extra boost . . .
