They have some new AA mode, comparable to CSAA. It was on an AMD tech slide that was posted here a few days ago, but I cant find the linky. :(

I think there are major driver problems still from both camps...:)

nV is doesn't seem to be suffering from frame rates, but some rendering problems.

Yeah but it seems to perform equally to the 8800 GTX in Prey, and the 8800 GTX beats it in three games. So if that review is "fake" then at least it tries to give some credits to G80 and not just focus on R600's "godly" performance. To my eyes that review might well be a true one.

Yep that review really slammed the 2900xt, if accurate amd is out of the graphic business.

You make it sound like 2900XT is priced arround 8800GTX level. it priced at $400 and is a real compititor to 8800GTS 640MB. IT also has loads more feature and better driver for vista. Also pre early DX10 benchmark show it beating up 8800GTX in crysis. Your just blined by your love for nvidia that you start to talk all the crap nvidia throws at you. Nothing more than a fanatical fanboy.

Certain others are blinded for their love of ATI and take whatever positive "review" they can find as godly truth.

You know what I mean. ;)

EDIT: Love how all the positive benchmarks are put at the top in order to make ATI fans want to jump on it. But then they get to the bottom, and... Who cares, these aren't even real... :disgust:

you have one in your hands right now that you can compare to the 8800's in terms of driver support? not that it would take much to have better vista drivers than the 8800 did at it's launch ;)

k.

funny, substitue "nvidia" for "ati" in that sentence and it would fit perfectly on you

I strongly disagree with your assertion that the X2900 will have better drivers. You dont know that.

ATi is in the same situation nvidia was, new OS (actually 2 if you count x86-64), new API, new driver model, new hardware.

This benchies could be true, they're run at such resolutions and AA settings that the memory bus of the R600 would really come into play over the g80.

it would be *difficult* to have worse drivers

i bet that AMDs will be *more* mature than nvidias ... they have had THIRTEEN [or more] revisions ... r600 has "been here" a long time

i am gonna go out on a limb ...
what's new?

just say it's their experience helping MS "develop the driver at the heart of Vista"

How do these scores compare with DailyTechs? Any overlapping games used? (Will have to look up).

http://www.dailytech.com/ATI+Radeon+HD+...+Doomed+from+the+Start/article7052.htm

After looking at the 1900x1200 results(to take the Q6700 CPU that DT used out of the equation a little bit) this review seems pretty accurate and shows the 2900XT in a better light than the DT benchmarks if anything.

With the exception of the COH game in which the AA/AF wasn't being applied to the 2900XT(it sounds like they concluded this?) these benchmarks might not be too far off.

How have these been determined BS? The photo does show the guy with like 4 of the cards....Photochopped?

Bad news if those results are true. :(

ATI has a 8x AA mode?
Yes, according to the slides they have 8xMSAA like nVidia.

you can move the slider all the way to the right and performance will definitely drop
Performance only drops under the static path. Under dynamic there is no performance drop because the slider does nothing.

In any case the slider doesn't do AA like was presented in the article.
