No 5th season to see the conclusion of the series.

I really liked the first two seasons. However, I was not a fan of the 3rd season at all, but the final season seemed like they were heading back in the right direction.

Maybe they will treat it like they did with Deadwood, and release a very crappy, cheap "movie" to give the series a conclusion 20 years later.

And THIS is why I usually prefer to wait until after shows conclude before getting into them.

I read that earlier today and was just SMH.... sucks if you were into it. (never watched the show myself)

It would seem that the series now meets that criterion. Hehehe

I won't be specific but I have to say, the plot winds around very much like one of those bad dreams . . . . well, never mind. Hehehe

This had been on my list of shows to watch, though I had lowered its priority based on the reviews of season 3. I guess I can take it off the list. Things like this and Lost apparently jumping the shark and going nowhere are why I wait until the entire run is done before watching most shows.

I meant to add that it's still well worth watching. The actors are fantastic and there's a lot of amazing scenery along the way.

Lost really did permanently scar a generation of viewers.

Low ratings and expensive to produce.....plus House of Dragons was doing well.

The third season was the worst, but season 4 put things back on track. I'm sad it won't have an ending now.

Haven't watched season four yet but I became tired of the first two seasons and actually enjoyed season three.

House of Dragons pulls 29 million viewers so it's not shocking that they cancelled Westworld.

First season was good. 2nd+ was "WTF's going on here?!". Any of the seasons were an acceptable stopping point.

I never watched Lost because right from the start it sounded like something they were making up as they went along and that it would be full of mysteries that would never be resolved or pay off. Still haven't seen any of it, but from what I hear it went exactly as I suspected it would.

I binged "Severance" recently and was very suspicious it would turn out the same way, but it did seem to resolve at least the biggest plot-lines. Still had a lot of loose-ends though, but had enough of a proper narrative structure to feel satisfying.

Saw the 1st season of Westworld, which was OK, but doubt I'll ever get round to seeing any of the others. Maybe it's just because of how the TV industry works, and the economics of it, but they rarely seem to start these things with a clear idea of where they are going to go with them. The Walking Dead really suffered from the lack of any overarching plot-line to give it a long-term structure (hence it slowly deteriorated and fell apart over time, appropriately enough).

it totally was like that lol

still worth it though IMHO

(disclaimer: i may only be saying this to justify the 100+ hours i spent watching it)

I tried watching the Westworld producer's new show The Peripheral on Amazon, but I was too bored by it after 3 episodes or so to continue watching it for now.

It really reminded me of Westworld's 3rd season pacing and SLOW dialogue.

Can't say I'm surprised .... I watched a promo for this and I literally had no idea what it was about which is never a good sign.

Season 1 is right up there with GOT 1-4, it had a beginning, middle and end, the show could have wrapped up there and be ranked as one of the best mini series of all time.

Season 2 was a convoluted mess, confusing for the just the sake of it. Never bothered with season 3-4 and not surprised it was cancelled.

House of the Dragon has seemingly resurrected the GOT franchise and HBO probably want to greenlight another show with GRRM approval.

George has some odd . . . I'll call them "fetishes" for lack of a better term. Any long time fan of South Park will know what I mean. But he has what I consider an amazing imagination.

I didn't like the show but very weird to not finish the show with one season left. THat's an insult to the fans of it. Gee, at least do a feature length final episode or something.

I'm "that guy" when it comes to GoT .... the one who has never watched it.

Until recently that is! I'm currently towards the end of season 6* and looking forward to "House of Dragon".

*(Cersei just finished "roasting" the head-Sparrow) ;)

Just stop a season 6 and pretend that 7-8 do not exist. The quality drop off is not immediately apparent in 7, however season 8 is a big steaming pile of shit, nothing can be done to redeem the original show because of the last season.

I was told season 8 was when the serious "shark-jumping" got underway although there HAVE been a few WTF moments already!

One "mixed blessing" of binge watching a long series is that you don't become "emotionally attached" the same way as you would over the long-term. I doubt the decline to "suckage-level" in season 8 will be quite as as traumatic for me as it was for those who watched in "real-time".

;)

I'll keep your advice in mind though .... thanks! :)
