I like a bunch of HBO shows...The Sopranos, Entourage, Rome, Deadwood...but honestly I think the best one is The Wire. This show is so great, and yet I don't know anyone else who has heard about it. Anyone else appreciate The Wire?

btw, I'm watching the 3rd season on Netflix right now, so please no spoilers.

Best show on TV and second best ever (behind band of brothers). You'll be happy to know it will run the full 5 season course that David Simon originally planned. Season 4 has been terrific thus far, and you won't be disappointed by season 3.

As much as I love HBO shows, I have to rank "Rescue Me" right up there and most likely above all the HBO shows. Even curb.

Bastards cancelled Deadwood and I think Rome only gets one more season. :|

I've only caught one episode, but I definitely liked what I saw. I don't subscribe to HBO, so my viewing is usually limited to what I catch while on business travel.

I'm flabbergasted that after 13 posts I'm only the 3rd member to mention Curb Your Enthusiasm! That show is above all!

The Wire is an excellent show. I was wary when they went with the Dock workers storyline in Season 2, but it paid off.

HBO generally doesn't make alot of crap TV, besides the recent debacles that were Lucky Louie, Tourgasm, and perhaps Big Love to a lesser extent. I've been a fan of HBO programming since the phenomenal "From the Earth, To the Moon" mini-series.

Deadwood wasn't cancelled per se. Milch is to blame for that one... turned down a half-season to make a couple movies.

That show makes me want to rip Larry David's throat out with my bare hands. I don't think there's a show I could possibly hate more. His character needs an asskicking.

ROFL! His character is what makes the show though, he's so obnoxious and classless that the arguements he gets into and the people that he annoys really make the show work. But like Seinfeld, the humor is an acquired taste.

HBO has a few great shows, but the problem is that they only make about a dozen good episodes of them every 18 months.

So, you end up paying $150 a year for maybe 40 hours of good original content. The rest is just reruns and old movies. I think that I'm going to cancel my subscription when I move.
