Suppose you have a motherboard like this:
AsRock mini ITX Avoton C7250
that has 6 chipset SATA ports, and 6 additional Marvel SATA ports. If you're planning on connecting 12 drives to it for a storage server using either MDRAID or ZFS, are the marvell sata ports considered "reliable"? Or would it be smarter to pick up something like an open-box/refurb LSI HBA to use instead?
