free for a week?

Apparently GameStop is sending out fliers stating that with a pre-order, GameStop will let you play the game for a week, and return it for a full refund in store credit for use towards another game.
Interesting promotion, and surely some will forget to return it in time. But why?

this used to be a normal return policy back when it was Babbages. you could just purchase a game and return it for a complete store-credit refund for 30 days. then they changed it to 7 days and eventually got rid of it.

i think this is just promotion to get this game into more peoples hands. this game honestly has not gotten much marketting at all.

yah they did, but they changed it probably well over 10 years ago.

i remember in 7th grade my buddy bought 1 game the whole year, and he would just go return it after like 25-28 days to get a new game.

i was probably like 12 back then and now i'm 26, and that is as far back as I can remember it.

no wonder I knew nothing about it. :(
14 years ago... yeah I wouldn't know anything about those stores when I was 6 or 7.

Dont worry. Theres a reason you havent heard about it, and a reason why theyre basically giving it away for free. That reason should be obvious.

Oh I knew about the game, just not the old return policy.
As for the game, I have no high hopes for it, but it appears interesting and could be fun to play.

I can't figure out why people are so down on Haze (as seen above). It's the same studio that was formed by many of the people that created Goldeneye and Perfect Dark on the N64. They also created the Time Splitter series which many people enjoy. I think it's honestly nothing more than because it's on the PS3. I'm looking forward to the game myself.

It appears to be a fun game that mixes arcade-like elements of Timespitters with more realistic shooter elements of modern times. It definitely looks fun and the videos make it appear even more so.
I think the delays had caused a lot of cautious anticipation that led to a sense of distrust about the game and the development track, leading to a fear of an over-hyped piece of trash. You get that a lot when delays strike a game.

Me, it's definitely going to be a rental, or hopefully a demo appears before it's release. I'm thinking its going to be a game right up my ally.. hopefully the multiplayer is at least on the level of timesplitters and goldeneye, and it appears it very well could be. I think there is a chance it'll be a runaway multiplayer hit, regardless if the single player game is worthwhile. Unless the play mechanics are totally butchered.

I find it hard to explain myself, but the gameplay videos make it look like the most boring, derivative POS ever. Kinda like Conflict: Denied Ops. The bar was raised last xmas.

I suppose it could wind up that way... but I just find it odd that so many people are negative toward a game coming from a dev with a proven track record. The 4-player co-op alone has the game on my radar.
