These are very nicely engineered. I have a SG10. They can run linux, or a router distro such as Clarkconnect or E-Smith, or even Windows 2000 (use Routing and Remote Access). There's a fairly active forum on yahoo! groups. They have links for video and usb headers that will get you up and running. Great for media servers - I saw a $120 60gb drive here which makes it a pretty beefy little box. Two PC100 slots allow up to 512mb of RAM I believe. Go get them!

Sorry for the double posts - server kept asking me to re-login. Not sure why it posted if it didn't know who I was, but it ups my post count!

I have a SG20 and it's a great little router and so much more. I upgraded mine with a P3-933 CPU and 256mb of RAM. It runs RedHat 7.2 (some versions have older RedHat images but you can upgrade it no problem). I have several linux apps (a game voice server, FTP server) running on mine. It can act as extra storage on a network, router, I upgraded mine with a 802.11b card so it's also my WAP, FTP server, HTTP server, music server to a Turtle Beach Audiotron. Lots of things can be done but be prepared to learn Linux. Out of the box it's functionality is somewhat limiting (no way to forward ports, or open ports easily). This can all be done, but you'll need to learn a lot about firewall scripts. I contributed a lot to the Yahoo forum on things I've done, I suggest anyone wanting to know more start there.

How much electric do these babies run on, anything signficantly less than a regular system? I'm looking to replace a regular p3 system just to save on electric costs (needs to run 24x7).

It has a micro atx power supply (with an annoying loud fan) and uses laptop hard drives that spin down most of the time. It has no video card and only a simple 3 line LCD display. I can't imagine that it uses much electricity at all.
