Hawaii wants to Ban Pocket Knives

Has this bill passed the legislature and been signed into law?

If you saw every bill that gets introduced in every legislature around the country, your little tough guy panties would be in a perpetual wad.

Does the OP live in Hawaii?

If not, it probably won't affect him in the slightest unless he packs his Swiss Army Knife in his luggage...so he can have one while on vacation...just in case.

I've carried a pocket knife (at the minimum) for nearly 50 years, and for a long time, I almost felt nekkid without one, but for some reason, it doesn't bother me in the slightest not to have one when we're in the islands.

I DO miss the days when you could board an airplane with a pocket knife, leatherman, or even a folding knife in a sheath on your belt...with no hassles, no DHS freaking out...but, thanks to a few assholes...those days are gone forever.

Yeah... that'll never pass. Whoever wrote that should be publically shamed for writing such a moronic piece of legislation and wasting the legislature's time.

You see we always do this sh*t wrong. Why ban the pocket knife when the real solution is to mandate everyone to carry one! Banning only affects those who follow the rules in the first place and not the outlaws; for outlaws never follow rules. So making a law banning knives will only embolden outlaws!

Jiggz, I love that quote in your sig. It couldn't be more true, and reflects the legislation the OP posted.

 So, what's so "tough guy" about my post?

Fine, I'll just check a kitchen knife in when I travel to the island. I have no need for pocket knife, but a knife I do need for all the delicious fruits they have there. They're just banning knives that you can fold and put in a pocket, I'm wondering if you take one that has a sheath, would they raise a fuss about it?

I've carried a pocket knife since I was in Cub Scouts. They issued one to me in the service.

I'd think the guy that wrote this bill must be afraid of his own shadow.

Are you stupid? Public backlash to stupid legislation has STOPPED a lot of stupid legislation. The OP is doing a good thing by posting it.

Still legal to strap on a 18" fishing knife or a butcher knife or a hunting knife. This bill amounts to stupidity. Maybe they will force restraunts to cut up your stake for you?
