The one thing I wonder is why Obama doesn't just show his damn birth certificate(not the live birth one) so he can quiet all these wackos up. Just show the certificate! Its simple.

your one of the wackos.
Obama provided the required paperwork when he decided to run for POTUS!
If he did not have the proper paperwork there is no way in hell they would have allowed Obama to run for POTUS!!

You know it's bad when a republican is saying "enough with these idiots".

Sigh.

Yes, his birth certificate was verified by the Hawaiian Dept of Health, as well as the (repub) governor. Obama also showed a certified copy of said birth certificate. I guess that isn't good enough for some idiots.

This ^^ While I normally agree with Fern, I respectfully disagree with him in this case. Unless someone was physically present at Obama's birth and has an excellent memory, everyone's relying on secondhand information. To take the birthers' skepticism to the logical extreme, everything that they didn't witness firsthand being created is suspect. I mean, for all we know someone could've created a duplicate BC that "proves" he was born in Kenya!

This is what you get with little passport/official document knowledge and too much skepticism...

But yeah, if he has the 'normal' BC he has plenty to gain by posting it. It would be more one step toward reducing the ranks of "birthers" and making those left look even more ridiculous.

Fern
I think if he addresses them any more it brings him down to their level and legitimizes their concerns. He has absolutely nothing to gain from even humoring them. He did more than any Presidential nominee had done before in addressing this conspiracy theory bullshit. Even if he did everything the Tea Party idiots wanted, they'd still hound him about something else. At least if they keep whining about this, they aren't talking about something else.

They should just charge a fee for the records, make some money off birthers :)

Excellent idea. $5 or $10 per request sounds reasonable and would probably extinguish 95% of the problem.

In the meantime, it's amazing how many retards there are amongst the American populace. If the best argument they can make against Obama is that, "He wasn't born in the United States" then we have a nation full of retards. Argue that he is a socialist. Argue that his economic policies are bad. Heck, argue that he favors legal abortion. Come up with something better than, "He wasn't born in the United States."

I do not believe there are any requirements under the law, other than his signature on the FEC form swearing he meets the requirements to be POTUS.

IIRC, his campaign etc posted that copy of his 'birth certificate' in response to the rumors/questions about his citizenship etc. In accordance with their original intent, I don't find it unreasonable that they could be asked to post a copy of the original.

You mis-state the concern/questions of many of the "birthers". Most do not deny the certificate published is a true copy. Their questions revolve around the nature of the original BC. At that time (1961), and even today, Hawaii offers several different types of BCs. Many 'birthers' question which type Obama was issued. Now, depending upon which type he has more questions may be generated. But to claim they'd simply call the original a fake is to unfairly terminate an argument/debate before it begins by placing words in your opponent's mouth.

It's pretty obvious the normal thing would just be to publish the original and put a stop to all the speculation. For some reason Obama doesn't want to do that. Perhaps he, and his supporters, like the idea of "birthers" and perpetuate them as convenient sources of ridicule. Or maybe he doesn't have the straight-up 'normal' BC and and a sh!t-storm would ensue. None of us know.

But yeah, if he has the 'normal' BC he has plenty to gain by posting it. It would be more one step toward reducing the ranks of "birthers" and making those left look even more ridiculous.

It is very simple Fern. Obama learn a lesson a long time ago that the vast majority of P&N has failed to Grasp: DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!
