So TheNextRight.com is a conservative website run by thinking conservatives (as opposed to RedState and Freep which are run and frequented by far right wackos) seeking to distance themselves from the lunatic right of the past 8 years.

They called out the RNC for apparent connections to WND (World Net Daily, it's like the Enquirer for conservatives). The RNC responded with weak sauce.

The comments by readers on the site to the story are well written, thoughtful, and completely insane. Putting to rest the claim that birthers are only far right wing nuts. No, they are mainstream conservative nuts.

I check out TheNextRight frequently to see the articulated opposition to democratic initiatives explained in a coherent manner. David Frum is another secular conservative intelligencia member with a relatively new site called newmajority.com. These are the conservatives that liberals can have a conversation with, without worrying that they will hear an argument based on religion or conspiracy theory xenophobia.

They aren't hiding anything. By not responding they're saying that these accusations are so baseless and dumb that there is no need to respond. By even engaging in a debate they would be adding way too much credibility to this crap.

This would be like if a thousand people came forward and demand that Obama prove he isn't a giant lizard in a human-suit or demand that Obama really did eat at Denny's on Sept 15, 1984. There's no reason to respond and, just by responding, you bring attention, and credibility, to these non-stories.

well, i would say that there is a decent amount of doubt because of the fact that he has stated many times he was a citizen and went to school in indonesia and unless the information i have read is incorrect, i don't believe one can have dual citizenship in indonesia. i mean if there is this big of a deal, and there really is nothing to hide, then why not show the papers? why not show the school info? hell, we all know W was a "C" student. obama has admitted to using cocaine but nobody raises an eyebrow but when asked about this info about his citizenship comes up, then everybody is crazy and much is spent to hinder the info from coming out either from states or fed regarding the school info. some things make you think and if things don't add up, they don't add up.

if i get pulled over by the police, i have to prove that i have car insurance, the vehicle is mine and that i have a valid drivers license, not copies, but i need the actual item. one would think that to be the president one would have to prove their citizenship and if doubt is raised then it should be dealt w/ to get on w/ other issues. if there is no problem, the show the school papers and be done w/ it, but that won't happen. if those records are sealed, why? either somebody just likes to be talked about, which i can understand w/ the egomaniac that is obama or something is not right.

hell, a person was just required to prove they were indeed a woman after running extremely fast and looking "too lean" to be a woman and it turned out they were in fact a hermaphrodite, so sometimes things do need to be proven.
