GeForceFX Demo Movies/Crashes:
A handful of you sent me this link to the 15.3mb movie of the GeForceFX in action. The video is of a German gaming show that is showcasing the new GeForceFX demos, in which the card not only crashed during the first demo, it crashed the system completely during the second. I am not sure what the fellas were saying when the big BSOD popped and the machine rebooted on their big screen, but I am sure there was a tad bit of embarrassment going on there. You DO however get a good look at the two demos in action before they crashed though. Funny stuff.

Well, its a brand new architecture. Unlike the previous Geforce cards, this one isnt built off the same basic design, meaning the drivers are brand new, and not just built off the last ones. New drivers will have problems. They have 2-3 months to get the drivers up to par when the card is released.

if 1 or 2 crashes were unacceptable....

how is it that microsoft 98 was so widely accepted?

or the struggles ati has gone thru from the early days?

where would we be if 1 or 2 crashes were unacceptable?

i own microsoft win 98, 98se, and xp pro.
i also have owned ati rage 128,aiw radeon 16 mb,aiw radeon 32 mb,tvwonder ve, and the 9700 pro.

owning these products has taught me two things:
1.drivers need to be set up properly from the start
2.patience-new drivers are coming:p

Judging by the defensiveness you guys are touting I think my message was misunderstood, methinks i souldnt have used "haw haw" in the subject line :D . anyways ppl have expected Nvidia to be rock-solid in their drivers and products, and ATI caught alot of what i call "bullshit" b/c their new product (R300) is "buggy" etc. Its funny to see the irony and the stalwart defensiveness or lack of response when the tables are turned. If anyhing im not trying to be a fanATIc but rather trying to show that no card is immune to development and therefore should not be prased as a better product than its competitors based on heresay and media spinmeisters.

I guess the reason it's perceived as funny is that you'd expect a product demo to show a wonderous and flawless new product. It'd be like Firestone demo'ing a new safer tire, only to have it explode during the demo.

In a world of trouble if that was applied to UNIX and mission-critical servers in banks and corperations.

(of course there is the veriable of time but im assuming that you mean once a day or so)

this was only 2 crashes not once or twice a day...comparing it to unix=apples to oranges

i love my 9700pro but no product is ever perfect.but posts like these make the fanboi's go crazy;)

here is my take on that video=again mho

two testers in another country are allowed to test the nvidiafx card, since they are overseas no nvidia rep is sent but rather an nvidia rep from their country with little knowledge of the actual card.they load they drivers but didn't delete the old drivers as they were on a deadline.during testing the old drivers caused a conflict twice causing the program to be reset.since they didn't have time to set it up correctly they obviously didn't have time to fix it.

but of course i don't speak their language so i am just offering a different position to see from.

i would think at comdex there were plenty of nvidias finest available:cool: and that user error under any hardware would cause the same thing.

slappy00 no offense to you or your post was meant just pointing out that there could be many reasons for this.
