Havnig trouble with a Linksys 4prt Cable/DSL router & Napster

I'm not sure if I should set up port forwarding, and if so which ports to forward. When I try to download a song, any song, from most users I get a timeout. It wont get past "getting information" part. The router wan light blinks a bit, as does the dsl modem activity light. But that's about all I get. Help! I love napster, but I want to be able to USE it! Also, noone can get any songs from me.

Yes, you need to set up port forwarding. Napster's default port is 6699 but you can change it in the newest release. In the port forwarding menu, make the service port range 6699 - 6699 for the ip address 192.168.1.100 (if this is the main computer). This should solve your problem.

Look down towards the bottom.

Do you have to enable something to allow other users to download from you, or should it get past the Linksys router automatically?

Since I posted this, I've had to start from scratch w/the hard drive (bad sectors are pooopy!). When I reinstalled napster, it automatcally detected that I was behind a "firewall". I'm assuming this is my router. Anyways, I haven't had any trouble since. Try reinstallin napster if you have any trouble w/people downloading from you. Might work and it only takes a minute or two. Peace

I don't have the newest version of Napster, that could be the problem. I've found out how to set it up with the Linksys Router anyway, if anyones interested.

Napster has been a real bitch for me lately, I tried reinstalling and all the other BS. I finally got it though, some networking troops over at 8wire.com (networking forum) hooked me up...I finally found a die hard Networking forum where we can begin in our crusade to take over the world.
