Having very annoying problems with my Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-DS4H

Alright, so where do I begin...

A few weeks ago I decided it was time to upgrade my computer to be able to play some of the new games coming out, so I bought a new computer. I'm pretty sure it's a fairly high-end computer, and it seems to run everything I throw at it on high. It runs Oblivion, Call of Duty: World at War, Dawn of War II, etc. on high with basically no slowdown whatsoever.

Here are the specs:
Motherboard: Gigabyte MA790GP-DS4H
Audio: Onboard Realtek HD Audio
RAM: 4 Gigs (Which I guess XP can only take limited advantage of?)
Processor: AMD X2 6000+
Video Gard: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 896MB

I get very high FPS compared to what I used to get, but one thing has been bothering me very much. In just about every single game I play, it stutters. The thing is, the stutters are barely noticeable. They are literaly just fractions of a second, whenever I move around in these games there are little graphical/audio hitches constantly. It's really, really, REALLY annoying.

What I have also noticed is in programs that play music, specifically itunes, the same skipping/stuttering problem happens.

In some games, this is less noticeable than others. In some games, there are very slight hitches, in others, the game skips around constantly. Games are still playable, but I'm always noticing how annoying it is. Audio skips out too.

I've tried everything. I've gone over all the basics, I've updated my video card drivers, I've updated my realtek audio drivers, I've installed the AMD Dual Core Optimizer, I've installed the latest F3 BIOS from Gigabyte. Hell, just to make sure It's not a problem with the hard drive being damaged I changed out to another HD and re-installed windows. Games skip too. My video card is not overheating, I've checked.

Until a few days ago, I literaly had no clue what the hell was going on. And then, I did a little bit of googling...

Apparently, there's this thing called DPC Latency. I don't know the specifics, but I've read up on some places (Including this site) that DPC Latency is a problem in many Gigabyte boards. As DPC Latency gets higher, games/audio may stutter. This is EXACTLY the problem I have. In order to prove it, I downloaded a little DPC Latency checker tool I found on the web and ran it in the background. When I wasn't playing games and listening to music, it was fine. But when I turned on a game and turned on itunes, this is the image that I got:

In that picture, I'm getting enormous spikes. I E-Mailed Gigabyte Tech support, but they just gave me a lame canned answer that said "Make sure the OS was a fresh clean installation on this system and you do not have any background applications running, try disabling all startup applications using MSCONFIG"

Anyway, I need some help here. I have no clue what to do about this problem, my games are stuttering and I think it's the motherboard. Any help is appreciated.

I got rid of my stuttering by uninstalling the norton anti virus software by synmatec. Don't know if you're running any anti virus. Microsoft is offering windows live care free for 90 days if you would like to try it. I haven't had any issues with it.

Alright I'll check that out.

In the mean time, if anyone has a solution I'd appreciate it.

Yeah, someone else suggested that and I tried it out.

Unfortunately the problem still persisted.

I also tried turning off onboard video card, that didn't work too well.

Have you disabled onboard video, com ports, and any other devices your not using. Also make sure you not overclocking the system cpu, video, memory.

Well, I have the same mobo, and running it now I have a latency of between 200-250 microseconds, no spikes.

Check your motherboard for any signs of damage, look for any bulging capacitors in particular. You may just have a bad motherboard.
