Having trouble with overclocking

ive read all the tutorials and everything i just want to know what you guys think is up. My specs are in my sig so check them out before you read on.

Whenever i try and up my cpu clock through the bios i get a Post error message and asks me if i want to load to last known good setup, load defaults, or just continue booting up. So when i just continue to boot up and open up CPU-Z and check my speeds and such they aren't right. But when i use EasyTune to up the speed it locks up on the slightest increase. Someone tell me what is going on since i have no idea.

well the normal stuff like voltages and fsb mhz. The problem im having is that when im feeling good and pushing some things up little by little all the sudden this stupid fail safe thing will pop up and it will give me the option to load last known configuration, continue to boot, or go back to bios. either way i go it will set the cpu speed to 1800mHz and will load all my defaults but it hasn't changed any of my settings that I changed, it just overrides them temporarily.
