Hey guys and gals, happy holidays...

I just received this Gateway FPD2485W as a gift and it's gorgeous...only problem is, it won't display from my computer via DVI. VGA works fine, but if i can't use DVI it isn't worth it to me. I contacted Gateway already, they immediately said it's a corrupted DVI port and sent me a new one...this one doesn't work either. I don't think it is the monitor, i think it has to do with my graphics cards (EVGA 7600GT). I'm really at a loss here for what to do, it outputs via VGA just not DVI...any advice? I'd really appreciate it...

Thanks,

-Rick

PS- I'm running Windows xp pro native settings 1920x1200 but i tried at all other resolutions and still got no display on DVI..

Some more details would help like:

Outputs on your video card, ie 2x DVI, DVI+VGA etc.

How you tested VGA working fine, was it DVI+VGA adapter to the Gateway VGA input? or did you test VGA on a different monitor?

If you have 2x DVI output on your card, try the top one (furthest from the PCI bracket/card teeth, closest to the case screws). This is typically default primary output on most cards I've owned.

Try cycling the Gateway's Power with it connected to the DVI out by unplugging the AC-plug from the back of the monitor. It should go through its post and then select DVI input from the OSD.

Boot up with a different monitor attached or just the VGA connector to the Gateway. Once you're into Windows, connect the DVI connect from the Gateway and see if its recognized. Cycle power or just hit the front power button and turn it back on.

I have 1x VGA and 1x DVI outputs on my video card...so really only one choice...DVI works on the video card because my last monitor was connected via DVI...

I don't use any adapaters...i use the dvi cable that came with the gateway monitor...could it be a frequency issue?

The best advice most of us can give is to try it with another computer. Find a friend, coworker, or anyone that would be willing to let you take a few minutes to try it out. Otherwise, it could be a myriad of reasons. The most pressing and simplest one to solve would be if your GPU has any issues or not, and it will be solved if you try it on another computer that is DVI capable. After that you can work your way down to other possibilities.

Also, as always, make sure you have the most up to date drivers.

PS: sorry for regurgitating that advice, something which I'm sure you've heard over and over from others. But unless you tried it, it really is the best thing to attempt.
