Having trouble with my Palm IIIx

I changed the batteries over the weekend. A few hours later it wouldnt power on. So I put in another set, same problem. The batteries worked, I put them in other devices. I reset the palm by sticking the stylus in the hole in the back, which brought it back to life, at the cost of my data.

Again a few hours later, I tried to use it, and suffered the same problems all over again, and also this morning. Its only using about 11% of the memory. I'm not using rechargeable batteries, they are a known brand.

Any ideas?
 
Wierd, i haven't had anything like that happen to me yet... hope to see this thread gets some answers... i did leave my palm in my car one day, and it got a lil hot and lost all the data on it... wasn't too happy 'bout that
