I work at a car dealership, I have just installed Windows 2000 Professional on this terminal and I cannot get the computer to see the network printers. We use a DHCP server to distribute IP addresses but no luck with the printer. Any help???

we could use a few more details.
Are other computers using the network printers successfully? if so, go to one of them, start, settings, printers and faxes, right click on the printer you want to connect to. Select properties.
There is a ports tab. it will show a list of ports, with a standard tcp/ip port checked. highlight that, and select "configure port". make a note of the ip address. close or cancel that, do not mess up someone elses printing.

Go back to your machine, and install the printer. DO NOT select network printer!!
select a printer attached to my computer, but Uncheck the "automatically locate my plug and play printer.
next screen will ask you what port to use, or add a new port. select add a new port. in the dropdown menu, select 'standard tcp/ip port.
type in the ip address, only the numbers, nothing else.
Next you can select printer make and model. finish up the installation and print a test paage.

I pulled that all out of winxp, but it is the same more or less in 2k, if memory serves me.
