Here is the email my buddy at work sent me.

So once again I'm having problems with my computer. My windows
computer was on and working fine, all of a sudden it turned off, my
linux computer didn't have any problmes and was running fine. I tried
plugging it into a different outlet and tried using a different power
cable with no luck. I dont even get a sound when I hit the power
button. I tried unplugging things so now its just my mobo, ram, disk
drive and gfx card still nothing occurs when I hit the power button.
Does it sound like a power supply issue? Do you have anything I could
use to help figure out what is going wrong?

The only advice I could think of to give him was to try different power supplies. Uplug/replug cables and also make sure the outlet isn't the one that is not broken.

Thanks for your help.

it seems like a psu to me. but, the psu could have fried the mobo, cpu, gfx, and/or ram. so you never know. first just try a new psu. probably the most important thing is just to see if the HD is ok, if he has anything on there.
