Having trouble over clocking

My bro in law is having trouble with his 2500+ he has retail week 19 and its just not stable for over clocking anything past stock. Any suggestions? We tried upping the voltage to 1.75 and nothing. is working.

specs
a7n8x 2.0
Corsair 3200llpt
slk800
smartfan 2

well we have tried both I have the same setup with a week 17 mine is running at 11.5x 200 at defualt vcore.

On his we have tried the same and also have tried 11.5x166 only half a muti more and still unstable.. going to bed but I will check tomorow.

the processor wont pass prime at defualt settings. This thing has not been stable the whole time he has had it. I think we may need to return it to newegg. running memtest now to see if there is a memory error. Could the power supply have anything to do with this problem???

Yes it could be... but first let's see what voltages the rails are providing (+5, +12, +3.3)?

looks good to me. are you running dual channel mode? if you are then try using only 1 stick of ram and see if you can get higher. also, make sure that it's not a motherboard issue by using your own cpu and overclocking it to 11.5x200 like you did on your own board. if it doesn't work, then it's probably a motherboard problem.

No it doesn't look good.. at least the +5v doesn't. 4.75v is just on the lower limit of the +/-5% tolerance!

You might wanna swap out the PSU with another unit and see if it improves anything?

we switched out my processor and put in his system and it ran fine. when I put his in mine, it would not post at defualt settings with out upping the voltage.
