Hi guys,
I must say that Windows 2000 is a royal pain in the butt when it comes to installing drivers. I am still having trouble installing my new game theatre W2k drivers but thats another story.
Ok here is my problem......I have a F16 combatstick by Chproducts and I went to the CH website and followed the instructions and then install wizard kicks in and I type in my A drive (downloaded drivers on to my 3 1/2 disk) and all is fine until it gets to a section that says "Windows 2000 pro needs a file 'hidgame.sys' in order to proceed. It says I have to type in the location of that file but I have no clue where it is or if it even exists? I even put in my windows 2000 cd and did a search for the file and nothing. I just can't get past this stage to install my drivers.
And something interesting I noted was that whenever I get a screen that says I have to type in a file path and I click browse...after I click I try to look into folders there always seems to be files missing for some reason. Its weird because if I do it the normal way and duble click my computer and double click c:\ drive then all the files show up. But whenever I am trying to install drivers and a screen shows up instructing me to type in a file path and I click browse to look for the folder it never shows up. Example....when I click browse when installing new drivers and try to get the file in question in my download folder it does not show up in there. But I know its suppose to be in there.
Maybe its because I am new to w2k but its a damn headache to install drivers for me.
Can anyone help me please?
I have W2k service pack2 by the way.
