I'm running the system in my signature, using an ASUS Slotket and Golden ORb HSF(also some artic silver). it runs 868mhz at the default voltage of 1.65v. no matter what settings i put on the ram or what voltage i set to the CPU i can never break 124mhz FSB. i've tried taking out the hyundai ram and setting the crucial to the slowest ram timings(10ns sdram, cycle 3) and nothing. i also tried all the setting in between. i've tried upto 1.9vfor the core, i can't even post at 133mhz. the core is from a malaysian plant and the S Code is sl45y. the guy who sold it too me had it at 931mhz(7x133), and said he couldn't get it higher becasue of his Mobo. and ok this 'may' be related, my power supply is only 200w, but i'd rather not have a million posts telling me "wells there your problem right there, just get a 300w PS and you'll be fine". the system runs fine, i don't have a whole lot of stuff holding the PS down. plus it'll run 700 and 868 at any voltage. that may very well be my main problem, but i would like to try other solutions first(most of the time there is no simple fix, ie just replace such and such). when i change the settings above 124 FSB it won't even boot to the bios, just a blank screen. and i have been setting the voltages via the jumpers on the slotket, not just in the bios. i'm runing win2k, but since it won't even boot to the bios this is not one of my concerns. help me out guys, i was hoping to hit 150 FSB witht his chip (1050mhz). thx in advance.

oh yeah, no matter what i set it at or how long it runs for its always cool to the touch.

If it were me (and I have one like this too) I would try removing the sound card. This solved an overclock problem once for me. If you do that with no difference then
Try it with just one stick ram, if not then just the other
Try it with one stick ram in different ram slots.
Try reducing ram speed (cas 3)
Does that mobo have 1/4 PCI divider at 133 fsb? My Abit BX board does not so the fastest it will go with the same setup as you is 124 fsb. But that's CAS 222 on the ram and an overclocked PCI and memory bus so even at 868 mhz there is little difference between that system and my 1Ghz system. ( Except that I have the 64 meg Geforce2 in my 1Ghz box😉 )
Hope this helps

It smells fishy..
If he really did run his cpu at 7 x 133mhz before he sold it to you, he would surely know that 7 and 133mhz fsb is 933mhz, not 931mhz....
If he said 7 x 133 = 931mhz, i'm guessing he just says he o/cd 133mhz fsb so you will buy his un-overclockable cpu....

I would look for better cooling if you are trying to hit 150.
You have pc 133 rams? are they gonna handle over 133mhz?
and just because it's malay sl whatever, doesn't mean it will o/c well right?
I bought two p3 700e exectly same s-code, but one didn't o/c even near 850mhz like your cpu, even with headghog+ artic silver. The other one did 1 Gighz no problem.
I'm not o/c expert but i don't see what your power supply got to do with it.
I have 250w, still does 1 Gig no problem.
Try getting better cooler,
I personally don't like any orbs.
If it doesn't do even with better cooling, forget it, it's not gona go .

sorry he must ahve said 933, but i couldn't remember so i jsut did 7x133 on my calc(931), so i don't htink its a shady deal. i've tried taking everything out except the vid card, and switching ram. and setting the ram to cl3. the mobo does have a 1/4 multiplier. so maybe its the video card, i have a radeon on the way so maybe that'll let me go up higher. i don't think cooling is a problem becaseu at 124 fsb its barely warm. any other suggestion, plz let me know!

Get a better power supply for sure. It makes a difference. I had a 250 and it couldn't keep up with the fans and cpu. The voltages jumped around too much I thought. I could hear the fans slow down when I would crank up a cpu tester. They don't do that with the new PSU. The 250w PSU was new also. My system is most stable at cas 2.2.2 and all the l2 cache latency settings to the highest possible with this mobo. This is ol' man at HWC if you want to know more from my old posts.
