Hey, I have a dell inspiron 1300 notebook and the only form of video out it has is VGA. I bought a VGA to S-Video cable and I'm trying to get it to display on my TV with an S-Video in.

I downloaded the latest video driver from the dell website and it comes with this program called "intel graphics media accelerator driver for mobile". I plug the S-video cable in and tell it to output through the monitor but on my tv all I get is static and a rough black and white image of my laptop desktop.

Here is the info that the program gives me about my laptop / video card:

You normally need a scan converter to go VGA->RCA or S-Video unless the GPU actually has S-Video output hardware built in... is this "VGA to S-Video" cable you got specifically for this laptop, or is it some generic cable?

I strongly suspect that adapter is for laptops using an ATI video card, NOT the generic Intel onboard video.

Exactly. The graphics chip needs to support outputting a TV signal on the VGA plug. Intel's, lacking an integrated TV encoder, inherently doesn't.
