having trouble flashing to new bios on laptop

so this is my laptop http://global.msi.com.tw/index...at_no=135&prod_no=1529

on the product page i downloaded the zip file that contains the newest bios. Then i extract the files and put them on a freshly fat32 formatted usb flash drive. from there i try to execute flash.bat (probably to make the disk bootable?) and it tells me its imcompatible with my OS.

Theres gotta be a different way to do this....

Any reason you feel the need to flash the bios?

If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it. Flashing the bios is reisky enough. You stand a good chance of pricking the board when you do it so only flash it if you have too.

Can you restore the laptop to the original OEM installed OS? (Do it on a different HDD.) You should then be able to flash the BIOS. Then, replace the HDD with your 64 bit OS HDD. I suspect that machine did not come with a 64 bit OS installed.

Does MSI have an on-line BIOS update capability?

Flash at your own risk.

If the flash goes wrong...
Is the BIOS chip integrated into the MB or is it removable?

it was a barebones laptop. the model is actually the ms-1651 but i linked that one because its the same laptop with the same bios

maybe ill just try readying the bootable usb stick on a 32bit computer. tomorrow ill have to use someones.

MSI has some like live update program that runs through internet explorer, i tried it it was terrible though. didn't find any updates and gave me a million errors.
