Having trouble connecting

Hello, Il just jump right into it.
I have Comcast cable, and I have several computers connecting to it via wireless router.
one desktop is wired and 3 laptops connect wirelessly. Recently 2 of the laptops were sent for upgrades. (memory, cleaning, what have you) and one works fine. the other however, woill not connect to the router. it wont even detect it as a viable signal. however, the other 2 laptops are fine. Its a dell, and it was reconfigured i believe. is there any software that could possibly be missing? i dont think we have the reinstall disk either. (this isnt mine..its my step dads computer) thanks you for your time

I would check the folowing:
Make sure computer "sees" your adaptor
1. Do you see the wireless adaptor listed in your device manager.
My Computer-Properties-hardware-device Manager - netwokr adaptors

2. Verify the wireless software an drivers are loaded.

Make sure your wireless adaptor is set up
1. Open network connections... Control Panel - Network Connections

2. In network connections verify an Icon that says something like wireless network connection.

3. on the wireless network Connections Icon Right click to choose properties.

4. Select tcpip properties, open and verify it is set for obtain address automaticly.

Make sure the wireless adaptor has not been disabled.
You may have to go into the BIOS to do this. or download software from teh wireless device maker.

If none of these work I would search the web for your PC and attempt to reload all the wireless software on that site.
