Having trouble capturing TV

Im trying to capture video from my TV card and i am having a sh!t load of trouble. I have a Hauppauge Win TV 88X. Its not a hardware problem i think its more to do with the settings. First i used Hauppauge Win tv200 to capture with no compression, it didnt work couldnt be read by DivX so i downloaded the DivX Codec installed that and used that to compress it but now i get no sound even though its supposed to be capturing it and i get very jerky recordings. I Have it set to 15fps, RGB 24 Colour Space and an output of 320x240. The audio format is PCM 44.100Mhz 16Bit Stereo @ 172kb/s, The DivX Codec is set to one pass @ 672kb/s.

Anyone got any ideas as to why im getting poor results? Thanks
