Hi I'm new to the forums and I really need some help.... I'm stuck...

I'm having problems with my DVD burner trying to burn DVDs, I just recently bought everything new........

Anyways here's my rig:
Asus A8n32 Sli-Deluxe BIOS:1303
Windows XP Pro
320GB SATA Seagate HD on SATA 1
Lite-on LH-201AP DVDRW on PRIMARY IDE ALONE FIRMWARE KL05
Lite-on SHD-16P1S on Secondary IDE ALONE
PQI Extreme CL2-3-2-5 1GB (2X512MB) Dual
550Watt Logicsys powersupply

I also have a Lite-on SH-16A7S SATA DVDRW

This is my problem, I installed the motherboard and everything works great. Till I go to burn DVD's I have my Nero V7.7 Essentinals that came with my Liteon. I'm trying to burn DVD movies that I created with Nero and this is the errors I get:

My DMA are on, and I've tried everything I mean everything I know off, I even reinstalled the OS to see if it resolved it. I replaced my 400watt PS with the new one above. I've swapped out with the other burner SATA one still same thing. Then I tried my external USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA thing still same results. I don't know what to do. I've talked to Liteon Tech, they couldn't give me anything. I went back to my old nero 6.3 to see if works cuz it works with the old system. I've used the Verbatim MCC004 Discs, and some others as well. Sometimes it might work at 16x after a reboot but when it burns might make one but thats it till next reboot. It usually fails right at 2% after the writing the lead in track. Sometimes it works ok if it burns at 4x. Its just confusing and fustrating..... Please help me if you can...

Thanks a mil,
Jeremy W.

Are there any updates available for Nero?

I got a similar error when using Nero (an OEM version too) with my Vista RC2. The only way I got it to work was by buying the Nero 7 Ultra version (50% off at bestbuy when I got it). Essentially, the version I had wasn't compatible; maybe that's the same issue with you. Maybe an update would solve that (without having to go out and buy a full version)....

I for one, will not buy at Best Buy ... their prices are among the Highest of
any Retailer .. you can always get it cheaper at Staples, Office Depot
or online at places like Newegg .. in some cases, I have even seem decent
software prices at Walmart (but they only have a limited selection) .. same
goes for Hardware at Best Buy ..way higher than everybody else

I've used both nero's on a Nforce 3 chipset works beautifully don't understand ..... why it won't jive with nforce 4 chipsets ???

think it might be because of Lite-on ???? Should I try another brand...

Nero didn't fix it but hey thanks for the clean tool I've been looking for something that would do that.
Found problem, both the burners will not support the MB right for some reason. I carried it over to my friends house and played with it on his ASUS 8n32 Sli-Deluxe as well. Same problems, so I found me a Memorex F16 (liteon 1633s) worked beautiful. So I RMA'd the Drives and should be getting new ones and holding them till they resolve the issue with Firmware updates.

Thanks guys.
