OK, I'll bite: What mobo is involved, and did you go from a TnT PCI to gf2mx AGP?

when you say it doesn't start in windows, does it lockup right when you go into windows? do you only get 16 colors? does it give you a blue screen with the fatal error? & did you remove the previous nvidia tnt drivers before installing the new ones?

He did all that! Delte drivers and everything. He can not even get into windows and see those messages! He can get into safe mode but when he changes the standard VGA drivers he still can't load up!

if the card is bad, the colors wouldn't be displayed correctly, even in safe mode, or you would get a blank screen, if he can get into safe mode only & not normal, it could be a software conflict. If he formats his computer & does a clean install & it stick lockups up then you can be sure it's the videocard card.

OK, I am the person who is having the problem
1. It boots into safe mode using the standard VGA driver
2. It boots into safe mode using the reference drivers
3. It sometimes boots into normal mode when using the standard vga driver
4. using the reference drivers, windows tries to load up, after the mode con messages in dos while booting up, the hard drive makes a long whirring sound for about 40 seconds, then stops responding, a couple of times it actually did boot into windows but stayed in the dos screen(????????????????), i found this out by accident when i pressed a shortcut key on my keyboard and loaded up winamp!!!!!!!!!!!

help me man....its driving me nuts....i have never failed at installing anything.......i want to play Q3 at decent frame rates.......

Is that Chaintech board or yours a VIA chipset, by any chance? If it is, you will have to install the Via 4-in-1's to get going. Also, if it is a Via chipset, try disabling AGP4x, if it is enabled. If it is a BX chipset board, the only thing I can think of doing is formating and reinstalling Windows.
