I am having a discetomy for a ruptured disc performed tomorrow at 9:00 am. Plans are I will come home tomorrow afternoon once I can hold down food, pee, and walk. I can return to driving after two weeks and to work after four weeks. (I have been off since Jan 28th.)

Wish me luck!

Congrats! I had one of those 16yrs ago (I was 24) when I ruptured a disc at L4-L5, but I unfortunately needed a laminectomy as well, I've never been the same. Before I had the surgery I could barely walk, but I've been in pain ever since.

They've come a long way in 16yrs. Hopefully you won't need the laminectomy, and they'll do some arthriscopic surgery or some lesser procedure on you. The less they remove the better.

Maybe he needs a paperclip...

Good luck to ya. I have 3 herniated disks, but (for now) the doc doesn't want to cut me.

He was talking about either a fusion or a disk replacement, but after a battery of tests, including a discogram, he says there's too much damage on too many levels to fix...learn to live on pain managment...

Hopefully, the discectomy brings you some much needed relief.
