having streaming problems with youtube.

I'm having trouble streaming video from youtube.. it's only youtube.. and i'm not downloading anything while testing this.

google video streams fine.. all other video sites stream fine.. but youtube lags so much. even if i pause to wait.. it will take longer to load then if i let it play and buffer every 5-8seconds.

it happens on all computers on my network.. all my roommates computers as well.. so it's not a computer problem.

any idea what I can do to fix this?

also if i goto my parents house youtube streams fine on the same laptop I use here.

I get around 2.5mb download on speedtest.net

Can you describe your network a bit? Wired or Wireless? Cable or Dsl? Router and/or other switching devices?

I have m0n0wall setup.

m0n0wall
->dsl modem
->belkin wireless router
--> 2 wired connections (pc and xbox)
--> 4 laptops connected wirelessly

xbox can stream netflix fine.. all computers can stream any video aside from youtube without having to buffer all th etime.

both the wired and the wireless laptops won't stream youtube.. nothing on the network will.

If you connect one computer directly to the modem, does it still have the problem?

(edit: also, I assume the m0n0wall is between the modem and router right? your diagram has it at the top which would be somewhat strange I think)

well both is connected to m0n0wall.. but the data comes through the modem first obviously.. my modem is bridged and the pppoe is configured in m0n0wall.. so i can't plug the modem directly into a computer right now.

I have the same exact config setup at my parents house and youtube streams fine there.
